At the beginning of the Zypressenstrasse project, there was a group of people that sought a project allowing a good blending of living and working on an urban site. In 1993, they found a former factory for electric motors in Zurich that was remodelled in a rather unconventional way while respecting the original building.
Finally, 21 totally different and unusual flats as well as numerous commercial and office spaces were created. Datuma has supported this project in many respects from its very beginning. Firstly with a loan that sufficiently raised the equity basis of Zypresse AG to secure the necessary bank loans to buy and remodel the building.
But also by active contributions to the development and firm establishment of the project idea. Besides, Datuma has substantially helped in managing and monitoring the construction process and has supported the project in difficult phases by covering certain risks.
In fact, it had been far from obvious whether the whole project would be a success story in the end and that all units could, ever since it was completed in 1997, always easily be let and at the usual market conditions. That’s why the engagement assumed by Datuma was vital in successfully realizing this significant project.
